The intelligent robot research team, relying on the Robotics Research Institute of Henan University of Technology, has been engaged in the research and development of basic theories, key technologies, and applications of industrial robots, bionic robots, intelligent robots, grain warehouse robots, and teleoperation technology. There are currently 7 full-time teachers, including 3 master's supervisors and 7 with doctoral degrees. In the past three years, the intelligent robot research team has completed 6 national and provincial research projects, as well as 13 school enterprise cooperation research projects; Team members have won 1 Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and 5 Provincial Education Department Science and Technology Achievement Awards; Published over 70 high-quality academic papers, including more than 50 SCI/EI indexed papers.
The main research directions include:
(1) Robot intelligent control technology and applications. To meet the demand for autonomous and intelligent development of the new generation of robots, we will conduct technical research and industry applications in robot intelligent control methods, multi machine collaborative operation, intelligent motion planning, and multi task autonomous allocation.
(2) Remote control technology and applications. To meet the complex operational task requirements in the aerospace and intelligent manufacturing fields, research and application are carried out in human-machine interface technology, remote operation system transparency improvement, perception feedback and control, and other aspects.
(3) Machine vision inspection technology and applications. To meet the visual inspection needs in the field of intelligent manufacturing, conduct technical research and industry applications in areas such as visual inspection algorithms, structured light scanning measurement technology, 3D scanning and reconstruction technology, etc.
(4) Grain silo robot technology and application. To meet the needs of grain leveling, inspection, and cleaning in grain warehouses, research and application are carried out in the areas of structural design, controller design, motion planning, and intelligent detection of grain warehouse robots.

张世杰:
Shijie Zhang, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at Henan University of Technology. He was born in October 1984 and received his Doctorate in Control Science and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in April 2012. He is a member of the Chinese Association of Automation and serves as a council member of the Henan Association of Automation. He is also recognized as a Young Backbone Teacher at Henan University of Technology.
Dr. Zhang has published over 30 research papers in renowned domestic and international journals such as International Journal of Control, Journal of Materials Science & Technology, Journal of Control Theory and Applications, International Journal of Robotics and Automation, Science China: Information Sciences, Journal of Astronautics, and Acta Automatica Sinica, with 16 of them indexed by SCI or EI. He has been awarded a Science and Technology Progress Award by Henan Province.
He has led several research projects, including one Henan Provincial Science and Technology Tackling Project, one Key Natural Science Project from the Department of Education of Henan Province, one project funded by the Zhengzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and two projects under the university’s Scientific and Technological Innovation Talent Program. In addition, he has undertaken more than ten industry-academic collaborative projects. As a key contributor, he has participated in three projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and three National 863 Program projects. He has also published a professional textbook titled Industrial Robot Control Technology.
Dr. Zhang’s research mainly focuses on robotic and nonlinear control systems, with emphasis on: (1) Autonomous navigation and motion control of mobile robots in complex environments; (2) Visual servoing-based robot control technologies; (3) Control techniques for robots based on omnidirectional drive systems and parametric design methods.
吴翔:
Xiang Wu, Ph.D. in Engineering, is a Lecturer and Master’s Supervisor. He serves as a Mentor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Zhengzhou, a recognized High-Level Talent of Zhengzhou City and Zhengzhou High-Tech Zone, and a Distinguished Mentor for Provincial-Level Makerspaces in Henan Province. He is also the head of the Advanced Sensing and Interaction Research Group (ASIR).
Dr. Wu has presided over and participated in more than ten research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Henan Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the Henan Provincial Science and Technology Department. He has been granted over 20 intellectual property rights, including invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyrights. He has also contributed to ten nationally recognized original or advanced scientific achievements and received a Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published more than ten SCI/EI-indexed papers.
Dr. Wu’s research focuses on perception and human-computer interaction based on computer vision and robotic control technologies. His key research areas include: (1) Vision-based inspection for advanced manufacturing, robotic control and motion planning, multi-object detection, and cooperative control theories and applications; (2) Natural human-computer interaction, AI-assisted design, and interdisciplinary data analysis and creative applications.
张慧:
Hui Zhang, Ph.D., is a Lecturer and Master’s Supervisor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Henan University of Technology. He received his Doctorate in Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2021. Dr. Zhang has long been engaged in research related to motion planning for redundant manipulators under environmental constraints, coordinated motion planning for dual-arm robots, intelligent interaction technologies in human-robot collaboration, intelligent inspection of aerospace components, and digital twin technologies. He has presided over one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project and four provincial-level scientific research projects. Additionally, he has participated in several major initiatives, including a National Key R&D Program project, a corresponding provincial-level R&D support project, another NSFC project, a project under the State Key Laboratory of Robotics Technology and Systems, a teaching reform project for higher education in Henan, and a Henan provincial graduate-level teaching case project.
Dr. Zhang has published more than ten academic papers in top-tier international journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, ISA Transactions, Nonlinear Dynamics, and the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). He has authored one academic monograph funded by the National Publication Foundation for Academic Works (established by the State Council) and contributed to one provincial-level textbook. He holds five national patents and three software copyrights. His research outcomes have been appraised by the Henan Instrument and Control Society.
Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on robotic interaction, human-robot integration, motion planning, digital twin technologies, and intelligent detection, including: (1) Motion planning for robotic manipulators and dual-arm coordination; (2) Intelligent control and interaction under human-robot collaboration scenarios; (3) Intelligent inspection technologies for aerospace-specific components; (4) Embedded intelligent systems development based on microcontrollers; (5) 3D vision point cloud feature extraction and reconstruction.
